Country Codes returned

Postby Jay on Wed Oct 12, 2005 6:05 am

Hi there

I am thinking of using http://www.hostip.info/api/country.html to determine which country the user is coming in from and then relocate to the correct region of the website.

I have a couple of questions which I'd really appreciate a swift answer on:

1) What country codes are returned ? Is it just standard ISO 3166 Country Code eg. shttp://www.theodora.com/country_digraphs.html

2) How large is the ip database ?

Thanks
Jay

1. http://www.hostip.info/bulk/countries.html
2. IP DB is tough to gauge - it depends which storage type you use in MySQL, etc... Out of the box, in the InnoDB storage engine about 500M + 1G of indexes (so 1.5G total) - note this is really an approximation...
