Any tools

Postby cmatni on Wed Feb 28, 2007 11:22 am

We manage a bureau to track dvd and movie piracy, and now there is a lot on the internet, we already know the whois lookup on the internet, but it does not always provide information, is there any tool to track ips or domains with the same site content, for example the same site exists over several domain names and ip's, or a site changed his ip, or history of ip's and domains any powerfull tool to help us fight piracy and find the roots of these sites, any help would be appreciated,

And if any one know any courses that could be taken for all the process of the ip tracking or anything in the cybercrime, we could send one of our employees to learn that so we would have a clearer idea ?

Thanks a lot

Are you using "whois" effectively? In addition to registrant information and nameservers, "whois" can tell you who (and provide contact info) owns the respective netblocks where those sites operate from.

Other tools to consider: on Linux, there's "dig" and "traceroute".

Pirate sites rely on search engines ... to make themselves easy to find by prospective downloaders. You can leverage the same search engines to find targets. A naive Bayes classifier could be used to group together similar sites.
