Alternative(s) needed to tooltip

Postby jiraffe on Fri Mar 31, 2006 12:35 pm

The tooltip display of the information is nice sometimes, but can get annoying on the 100th time it displays the information for a common link. Addidtionally, other tooltip information, which is often more important, is blocked by this.

The three alternatives that I would really like to see are:

1. Add an option to the context sensitive menu to display this info.
2. Add this information to the link Properties display.
3. Add a tab to the Page Info window.

All three would be nice, but I've listed them in order of decreasing preference.

Add an option for the user to set his/her current city.

Applications:

1) when the browser is started up, it can notify hostip.info (i.e., automatically submitting the city associated with this IP address)

2) include "Distance from you" (approximation)

BTW I'm getting an error that the extension (linked from the home page, i.e., hostipfox-0.3.1.xpi) can't be installed on Firefox 1.5.0.1.

Avoid inteference with TargetAlert

Postby jiraffe on Mon Apr 10, 2006 5:49 pm

When the hostip extension is installed, it somehow forces the icons displayed by the TargetAlert extension to always be present, regardless of the setting of the option that displays them only on mouse over.

Development on geolocatefox extension appears to be inactive. Is this something that could be merged into the hostip.info extension?
