Is it possible for me to make a geo-ip database and not buy it from some site..If yes then how do i go about the whole thing????

You would probably have to set up a service like hostip.info to gather people's locations and addresses; this would require acquiring hosting space, coding the cgi and database code to manage everything, and publicing the site to attract people.

Alternatively, you can download hostip.info's database, which is available for free, rather than making your own: http://www.hostip.info/dl/index.html

Of course it's possible, but mapping the Internet is non-trivial.

So, why would you when hostip.info's api is already free to use (subject to some resource limits), and the database is free to download?
