Can't seem to make a correction

Hi there -

I'm the network adminstrator for mcn.org and we have 216.150.240.0/20 allocated to us from ARIN.

However, when I visit www.hostip.info, the guess that comes up for where I am located is usually in NC or FL. I've attempted to submit corrections several times now but they do not seem to be reflected in the hostip database.

Is there any way to submit an entire /20 to hostip?

Thanks
Roger Weeks

Yes. See: http://www.hostip.info/bulk/index.html

Your datafile would contain:

216.150.240.0,20,US,FL,Mendocino

Please note there might be some delay before your corrections are reflected in the database -- that is, bulk updates are manually verified.

City names database

The city names database, used when hostip can't seem to guess your city, doesn't seem to be very knowledgeable about coastal California, or at least anything in my county of Mendocino. It won't identify Fort Bragg, Mendocino, Gualala or The Sea Ranch, all communities here on the coast.

Oops...I should have written:
216.150.240.0,20,US,CA,Mendocino

One workaround to the incomplete cities database is to first add the community (e.g., Mendocino, Gualala, The Sea Ranch, etc) as individual corrections (e.g., for some /24), before submitting a bulk update for the /20.

As for the completeness of US cities in the database, Brad would know better than I... but I do see some entries in the ip to cities table for Fort Bragg, CA (although an overwhelming larger number are assigned to Fort Bragg, NC).

Adding cities

This is also a problem, because I originally submitted a few manual corrections via the front page of hostip.info for addresses in our various subnets, and they never were included in the database.

That's why I asked about a bulk import.
