How about a radius of 12 miles from the "heart" of Metro Manila (14°37'N 121°2'E)?

thanks, Robocoder. what is the procedure to get the lat and long of any IP address and can this also be masked? there has been some fairly irritating garbage coming from said IP address that infiltrated our yahoogroup e mail grid. How can we prevent this guy(s) gal(s) from sending contaminated files? Merci.

There's no special magic in getting the lat, long. You can query the database, e.g.,
Code: Select all
SELECT lat,long from cityByCountry WHERE city='Manila' AND country=169;

Or check Wikipedia (to name a couple of sources).
  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manila
  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metro_Manila
  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makati_City
  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandaluyong_City
You should probably first report the abuse to Yahoo Groups support:
  • http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/groups/abuse/index.html

You might then also try contacting the ISP (Concentrix): [email protected].

many thanks robocoder, will inform my counterparts in Manila and ask the moderator of the group to file the complaint to yahoo support. i left the IT field 16 years ago it sure seems exciting times are ahead of us again. use to teach at a tech college, so i can still read those binary codes.
once again our thanks.
